The idea of having the first-ever WPHS Class of 2009 reunion was conceived in early October 2018 in a casual conversation over pizza. We became very excited about convening folks and catching up over good food and company, but weren't sure if our classmates would be interested.  So we decided to ask them!

Throughout October and November, the committee conducted two surveys. A total of 145 people took our initial survey which gauged the interest level -- do people even want a reunion? Our findings confirmed that our classmates were in fact interested; 77% voted they were excited for the reunion. Our next challenge was to decide when and where. A total of 120 people participated in our second survey, with majority of the respondents saying they lived in the area, preferred a date between Memorial Day and Labor Day (summer time), and wanted to celebrate in an event space. With this information, the Reunion Committee rolled their sleeves and went to work. Starting in December, the committee held monthly meetings to discuss venue options, how to finance the event, and outreach strategies. Our goal was to keep the event affordable yet enjoyable, and reach as many people as possible. Thanks to everyone who showed interest and has bought or donated a ticket, we are able to put together a fully catered event with an open bar in a beautiful space overlooking Old Town Alexandria and Washington, D.C.

It has been a long year, but we are very excited to see the idea come to fruition. We can't wait to see you on Saturday, August 17!
